The first Logue in Ohio
Samuel Logue (who was the father of Alexander, Abner, Martin, James, Emeline, and Samuel G. Logue) was among the pioneers who settled in Augusta County, Virginia in 1756 on the tributaries of the Cowpasture River. When he journeyed over the mountains from Botetourt County in 1804, horseback was the method of travel; everything that could be brought was packed into saddlebags.

Samuel Logue/Loague (father of Alexander, etc.)was the grandson of Samuel Logue/Loague who was in Augusta Co., Virginia in the 1750's. Young Samuel's father was William Logue/Loague.
In October of 1804 Samuel Logue Senior gave land to Samuel Logue Junior of Gallia County, Ohio, his grandson, "who is the son of my son William Logue deceased." (GREENBRIER COUNTY RECORDS, Volume 1: Larry Shuck. 1988, viii, p. 370.)
Samuel Logue/Loague of Ohio was born about 1780.
